School Chess National Final in Denmark
Boris Bruhn, member of the Education Commission was in Vejle to report about this exciting event:
On May 4th, the Landsfinalen, i.e. the national final in school chess, was played in Vejle, Denmark. The organizer is Dansk Skoleskak, a voluntary social and community-engaging children’s and youth organization. The whole event was exemplary, smooth and highly professional.
Around 1,400 children took part in the final this year. Up to 8 children play in groups against children from other schools for the coveted school chess cup. Never had so many pieces been set up for national βbrain jogging dayβ, namely around 22,000!
Congratulations to the Chess School of the Year 2023 – Giersings Realskole.
The day was a great example of educational chess: wonderfully inclusive, mutually supportive, and very appreciative.
